The sisters of the community at Strathfield were all united in prayer and in the organization for the day for vocations which took place at our convent on the 6th April. We all prepared for this day especially with our prayers and each sister was involved in helping to create a warm and friendly atmosphere where the young women would feel welcomed.
The theme for the day was centred on Mary’s FIAT. The day of prayer and reflection commenced with the Eucharistic Celebration which was presided by Fr. Michael Goonan SSP. His homily was focused on the special call of Mary to be the Mother of God and her faith-filled response to God’s plan with her generous “YES”. He then went on to apply Mary’s example to each one’s personal response to God’s special plan for them. He stressed that true inner happiness and fulfilment is only fully achieved when one responds to their particular vocation with faith and trust as Mary did.
Throughout the day the group was guided in prayer and reflection and helped to deepen their understanding on the charism, life and mission of the Sister Disciples. There was time allocated for video presentations and group sharing. The day concluded with the Eucharistic Adoration. The young women expressed their appreciation and deep satisfaction, they all found the program to be beneficial and enriching for their journey of faith and discernment. In this special year dedicated to Vocations in the Pauline Family, we strive to make it a time where we will feel again that «the total gift of oneself to the cause of the Gospel is something wonderful that can give meaning to a whole life» (Pope Francis).
